Register for future opportunities

KOUGA – Kouga Local Municipality has introduced a new Jobseeker Opportunities Database to make it easier for residents to register for future employment and skills development programmes.

The free online platform is available to residents living within the Kouga municipal area. It allows jobseekers to submit their details without creating an account or remembering a password, making the registration process quick and user-friendly.

Kouga Executive Mayor Hattingh Bornman said the database supports the municipality’s commitment to improving access to employment opportunities while ensuring a fair and transparent selection process.

“One of the greatest challenges facing our communities is unemployment. While the municipality cannot guarantee employment for every resident, we can create systems that ensure opportunities are advertised fairly and that local talent can be identified quickly when programmes become available,” he said.

What information is required?

Residents can register by submitting their personal details, educational qualifications, work experience, skills, languages and supporting documents.

The municipality may use this information to identify suitable candidates for internships, learnerships, EPWP projects, training programmes and other qualifying opportunities.

According to Bornman, all information submitted through the portal is stored securely and is only accessible to authorised municipal officials responsible for administering these programmes.

“Residents can register with confidence, knowing that their information will be handled securely and will only be accessed by authorised municipal officials for legitimate municipal recruitment and development programmes,” he said.

Have these details ready

Applicants should have the following information available before registering:

• South African ID or passport details.
• Mobile number, email address and residential address within the Kouga municipal area.
• Highest school grade and any qualifications obtained.
• Skills, languages and employment history.
• Driver’s licence information, where applicable.
• A curriculum vitae (CV) and any supporting documents requested.

How to register

The registration process is straightforward. Applicants should first gather all the required personal, educational and employment information before completing the online form.

Residents can then select the types of opportunities that interest them and give consent for Kouga Local Municipality to securely store their information and contact them if suitable programmes become available.

Once registered, applicants should keep their registration reference and update the municipality whenever their contact details or other information changes.

Registration does not guarantee employment

Bornman reminded residents that joining the database is not an application for a specific vacancy and does not guarantee employment.

“The database serves as a register of local talent that enables the municipality to identify potential candidates more efficiently when opportunities arise. We encourage all eligible jobseekers to register and to keep their information up to date so they can be considered for future programmes.”
