This weekend, we will see 160 amateur ladies from around the country compete over 36 holes on our two wonderful courses in the Pam Golding Ladies Open.

This tournament’s huge growth is partly due to the substantially increased sponsorship provided by Pam Golding, anchor sponsor since 2006, joined this year by Albert Saunders Attorneys, Ooba Bond Originators, Cape St Francis Resort and Fitch & Leedes.

Dirk Ellis Volkswagen – Hole-in-One

To add to the thrill of the weekend, there will be a hole-in-one vehicle: a sleek Volkswagen T-Cross 1.0 TSI 70kW, valued at R380,000! This beauty will be parked at the 17th hole, and we’re all hoping that one lucky golfer can hit that perfect shot and drive away in style!

9-hole Par 3 Practice Round

The festivities kick off tomorrow with a par 3 – 9 Hole practice round at the stunning St Francis Links. This will allow our participants to warm up and get acquainted with the course before diving into the main event.

“Beat Saria” Competition

We’ll also host a fun-filled “Beat Saria” Competition! Our wonderful host for the weekend, from Pam Golding, Saria Blaauw, will take her shot from high up and onto the 18th green. Any golfer who can outdo her attempt will win a fantastic prize!

The Serious Stuff

The tournament is a Better Ball Stableford, which in plain English means it’s played by teams of two players. On each hole, the best score of the two players counts in their overall tally. Golf starts at 11am on Saturday and 7.30am on Sunday. All players will play 18 holes on each course.

Saturday Evening’s themed party at Joe Fish

With the current renovations taking place at the Links clubhouse, this year’s party will be at Joe Fish. A fun beach theme will be in place to make it even more special. We look forward to seeing all our ladies get into the spirit with vibrant beach-themed vibes and outfits around the pool. Two Golf Professionals – Carel Tromp and Nazeem Goeda – will be the lifeguards – should any ladies have difficulty in the swimming pool!

Prize Giving Lunch

The event will conclude at the Bay with a delightful prize-giving lunch, during which Saria will be handing out prizes.

It’s sure to be a memorable end to an exciting weekend filled with competition and camaraderie.

Next Year

Says Jeff Clause: “We are already brainstorming ways to accommodate even more golfers, ensuring that this tournament continues to flourish. With our clubhouse repairs complete, when we are confident of hosting 200 ladies next year.”
