River Users Warned As Conditions Change On The Kromme

River users in St Francis Bay are being urged to take extra care on the Kromme River as conditions continue to change around the river mouth and dredging areas.

The St Francis Bay Canals Homeowners Association has warned boat users to be especially cautious when entering or leaving the river mouth, where substantial sandbanks have formed across parts of the channel.

Boaters are also advised to keep well clear of the dredger wherever possible. Anyone passing close to the vessel should slow down and proceed with care, as submerged dredger pipes and anchor lines may be difficult to see.

Buoys have been placed in parts of the river to mark underwater debris and other potential hazards, and users are urged to take note of these markers.

Floating debris and submerged obstacles may also still be present, making conditions less predictable than usual.

The association has asked all river users to remain alert, respect the safety measures in place and exercise caution while conditions continue to change.
