It’s not quite the end of the year yet, but it is time for us all to chill, dop some eggnog and enjoy the festive season as we see fit.

For some, it might be going down to the beach, fighting for parking, and enjoying baking in the sun, while for others, it might be slaving over a hot stove to make gammon and turkey, prawns and chicken and stuffing and trifle to be devoured later. Trifle. Remember that stuff? I wonder if Woolies have any left? I used to love the trifle that my gran used to make. According to AI, “Trifle is a layered dessert originating in 18th-century Britain. It’s typically made with sponge cake drenched in alcohol, fruit, custard, and whipped cream and served in a glass dish. The name “trifle” can also refer to something of little value or importance or to the act of treating someone or something as unimportant.”

Turducken

Even better, some don’t mess around and go straight for the turducken. Any meal that contains the word ‘turd’ in it deserves a closer inspection: “Turducken is a dish of a deboned chicken stuffed into a deboned duck, and then that combination stuffed into a deboned turkey. The name is a portmanteau of the words “turkey,” “duck,” and “chicken”. It is actually a thing, and is especially popular during holiday times.”

Anyway, we are veering way off course…

We are unsure when we will publish again, whether this side of the new year or the first edition of 2025, but that depends on the weather. If it stays cloudy and cool with a chance of gravy, we might get another edition done, but if not, then have a pleasant rest of 2024.

Ch Ch Ch Changes

Some changes are coming for St Francis Today, which we will reveal soon. Having said that, we said the same thing last year and the year before. We ended up changing some artwork and adding a new widget, admiring our own work immensely with hands on hips, and continuing along our merry ways. (did you see what we did there?) That may be the same in 2025, but we do hope to instil significant changes in our output this time. And hope is good.
