TOPS CLASSIC WINE TASTING RETURNS TO ST FRANCIS BAY

The annual TOPS Classic Wine Tasting returns to St Francis Bay on Thursday, 24 September 2026, bringing together 20 wine farms for an afternoon of wine, food, music and good conversation at River Club, St Francis.

Now, an important date on the local calendar, the tasting gives guests the chance to enjoy a wide selection of South African wines in one setting. It is an easy way to meet the people behind the labels, taste across different farms and styles and a way to find a few new bottles to take home.

This year’s theme, “Curated wines, good company, catch the story behind every glass,” sets the tone for the afternoon. Guests can expect more than a quick tasting. The event is about slowing down, asking questions, hearing the stories behind the wines and enjoying a relaxed afternoon in St Francis.

“The wine tasting has always been about more than what is poured into the glass. Every estate has a story, whether it is about the people, the farm, the vintage or the reason a particular wine was made. This event gives guests the chance to enjoy those stories in a relaxed St Francis setting, while discovering wines they may not have tasted before,” says Richard Moolman, owner of SUPERSPAR & TOPS Village Square, St Francis Bay.

The tasting will run from 15h00 to 20h00, with live music and snacks provided by Barney’s River Club. The River Club’s setting is the perfect venue for an afternoon that is social, local and a little more refined.

An early bird special is available for the first 100 tickets sold, offering guests the same ticket price as last year at R350 per person. Once the first 100 tickets have been sold, tickets will be R400 per person.

With only limited tickets available, early booking is recommended.

The ticket includes access to tastings from the participating wine farms, live music and snacks by Barney’s River Club.

Guests can also purchase or order selected wines on the day, making it a good chance to stock up ahead of the summer season or simply find something new for the table.
