Noah Peens has been selflessly coaching the young girls of Sea Vista tennis since May, and in July, Anam Lollie Hlela joined him in his efforts. To give the girls a taste of competitive play, Noah organized a mini-tournament, and the community came together to support the event with generous prizes.
The prizes included:
– A cruise for four on the canals, valued at R1000, from Captain Kev
– A skort worth R625 from Shakti Shanti
– Food vouchers from Full Stop Cafe, Bruce’s Ocean Museum Cafe, and St Francis Brewery Company
– A carrot cake from The Kitchen
– Water and water vouchers from Absolutely Water – Mickey Freund
– Fruit , liquid refreshments and a sandwich platter from Spar
– Cash prizes from Dawn Watt and Hixonia Nyasulu
In a heartwarming turn of events, Aiden, who came to watch the tournament, ended up participating when one of the girls was late, and he played barefoot! The tournament had 10 girls and 1 boy, making it a unique and inclusive event. Every participant received a prize, with the top three winners being:
- Asonele (1st place)
- Sino (2nd place)
- Lilitha (3rd place)
The tournament was a huge success, thanks to the kindness and enthusiasm of the community, and the dedication of Noah and Lollie to nurturing the girls’ passion for tennis. What’s more, Aiden was inspired to join the team, and the girls came up with a clever name – the Net Ninjas!
Remarkably, Noah and Lollie volunteer their time and expertise without any compensation, driven solely by their passion for tennis and their commitment to empowering these young athletes. The Net Ninjas are lucky to have them, and the community is grateful for their selflessness.
