That was a fast month.
When we first planned the trip it seemed like a month in Indonesia was a lifetime of holiday. What were we going to do for four weeks apart from surf, chill, work, enjoy the local cuisine, surf and chill? Well, the old saying goes that time flies when you’re having fun, and the time – it went at breakneck speed during this holiday period.
Still, it’s lekker to be back in the 6312.
Nothing much seems to have changed, except a new house has come up here and there, more advancement on the secret buildings coming up next to the petrol station, and a few more people around who told me yesterday at the beach that they live here now, and they have some friends moving here soon.
But there are the same people around, friendly faces everywhere and it has been lovely weather since my return, except for the evenings, when it seems that someone left the front door as well as the fridge door open. Winter is coming, inexorably, and there isn’t much we can do about it except get the fireplace ready, order some batches of wood, dust off the heaters and get ready as best we can.
The waves are usually good during the winter months, so there is that, and the water is actually a bit warmer for most of the colder months, except for the biting southwest wind that blows into your right ear when paddling up the points.
Anyway, it’s nice to be home, to see the old friends and to have a few friendly moans about life as we know it. The most exciting thing for many of the younger crew is that the waiting period for the Seal Point Boardriders Club Annual Championships is this month, and the club will make an announcement sometime today about it. Keep your eyes on the Boardriders socials – https://www.facebook.com/SealPointBoardRidersClub and https://www.instagram.com/sealpointboardriders/ where they will announce the dates and the sponsors.
See you at the beach
