How to make The perfect all-rounder mushroom sauce
because everyone including dad loves a mushroom sauce.
Enough for 4
INGREDIENTS
- 2 Tbsp SPAR salted butter
- ½ SPAR Freshline onion, finely chopped
- 1 clove SPAR Freshline garlic, finely grated
- 250g SPAR Freshline white sliced mushrooms
- 3 SPAR Freshline sprigs thyme
- 1 cup SPAR fresh cream
- ½ block SPAR Marksbury Select blue cheese
- ½ tsp freshly ground pepper
- Salt to taste
METHOD
- Heat the butter in a large pan, then add the onion and cook for 3-4 minutes until they start softening.
- Add the garlic and thyme and cook for another minute then add the mushrooms – make sure the pan isn’t too crowded. Season with salt.
- Cook for about 8-10 minutes or until the mushrooms start browning.
- Add the cream and cook for 5 minutes or until it starts thickening.
- Add the blue cheese and pepper, and cook for 2-3 more minutes or until the cheese is melted through.
- Adjust the seasoning to taste and serve.
