Progress on the Ground

Progress continues along the Two Harbours Trail, with on-the-ground work and strong collaboration behind the scenes. Neale Grobler and his team have successfully completed repairs to the bridge affected by dune movement, restoring safe passage and keeping this much-loved section of the trail open and accessible.

Attention has now shifted to long-term dune stability through careful, considered rehabilitation. Plans are in place to strengthen the surrounding areas with appropriate indigenous plantings, including the section beneath the repaired bridge. In preparation, the team is terracing key areas to create a stable foundation for planting and to guide natural sand movement in a predictable, resilient way.

Collaboration and Stewardship

We extend sincere thanks to Caryl Logie for her valuable guidance and practical insight, and to Henni de Beer, who will oversee the planting phase alongside the Two Harbours Trail portfolio lead, Ken McGregor. This coordinated approach supports continuity from planning through to implementation and reflects a shared commitment to doing the work properly.

A warm thank you also goes to everyone who attended the recent site meeting. The discussion, ideas, and collective input helped shape a clear way forward and reinforced the value of community involvement in caring for this stretch of coastline.

Step by step, the trail continues to be strengthened for the future, guided by experience, local knowledge, and a deep respect for the landscape that makes the Two Harbours Trail such a rewarding place to walk. It’s also a great way to get your daily 10,000 steps if you are thus motivated.
