As part of the Environmental Authorisation requirements, baseline environmental monitoring for Phase 2 of the St Francis Bay Long-Term Coastal Protection Scheme is now in progress.

The monitoring programme covers a wide range of activities, including:

  • Sampling and testing of sand sources in the Kromme Estuary
  • Monitoring of sensitive habitats
  • Beach profiling and northern beach surveys
  • Bathymetry and riverbank profiling
  • Water quality testing

These studies are designed to track environmental changes during both construction and operations. The results will help minimise potential impacts and support a proactive, adaptive management approach to protecting St Francis Bay’s coastline.
