Welcome to our weekly column presented by SUPERSPAR Village Square.
This column serves as a quick roundup of what is happening at the SUPERSPAR and Tops.
Firstly, there is a delicious new product in the store called “Doce de Leite” made in Humansdorp. A quick check-in with Mrs Google will reveal that,
“Dulce de Leite, also known as caramelized milk or milk jam, is a confection from Latin America prepared by slowly heating sugar and milk over several hours. The resulting substance, which takes on a spreadable, sauce-like consistency, derives its rich flavour and colour from non-enzymatic browning. It is typically used to top or fill other sweet foods.”
It’s great for kids of all ages and can be found in the jam and peanut butter section.
Secondly, now that everybody has all the pots and pans they need from our Master Chef promotion, here’s some info on our new Customer Loyalty campaign. The new campaign is The RoyalVKB Knives & Nutribullet Collection. The campaign dates are 21 February to 13 June.
For those of you who haven’t been into TOPS recently, all the renovations are now done, so pop in and see our smart, new look store.
The new issue of the SPAR SAVOUR online magazine is out, and it’s a fantastic issue. It has a couple of recipes, some cool ideas, and a great story about Trish Eksteen, who ran 100 half-marathons on 100 days.
The good news is that Marmite has returned, but unfortunately, there are a few price increases across other lines. With the petrol price set to rise next month by a record amount, there will be the inevitable knock-on effect of price increases. Also, with the continuing glass shortage, and the fact that some local alcohol producers have been importing bottles to keep going, it looks like there will be increases of between 6-14% on some wines and other lines. So maybe look at buying a bit of extra stock if you’re having a good month.
