Be warned – clear your property of alien vegetation
Last Friday St Francis Today published an article “New invasive species laws impact landowners”. During a meeting of St Francis Disaster Volunteer Group (STDVG) yesterday, the matter of properties being sold without the requisite invasive plant clearance was raised. It is apparently as necessary as an electrical clearance but unlike the electrical certificate is being generally ignored by authorities, conveyancers and property sales agents.
Looking back at last year’s fires and the fires that have swept both the Eastern and Western Cape and are still wreaking havoc surely it is time that this law (requirement) is properly invoked.
