St Francis looks forward to two bumper weekends

Over the past month St Francis has been blessed with two major sport events that not only introduce a whole new group of visitor to our wonderful area and certainly are a boost to both the hospitality related businesses as well as economy in general as we head into the quiet winter months.

Having two Top 100 golf courses certainly is a huge advantage as there can be very few small towns / villages in South Africa that can boast having facility to host two major senior golf tournament in  a single year.  Both these tournament, the National Senior and Super-Senior Division “A” Inter-Provincial Championships and Senior Women’s Nationals were a huge success with all players singing the praises of both golf courses and the St Francis experience. Listening to the chatter at the ladies event prize giving some remarks that were overheard were; “I will definitely be returning to St Francis with my husband” and “I am already seeing if we can book our Christmas holiday in St Francis” and “I didn’t know we had heaven on our doorstep”.

Amidst all the fairway and green activity St Francis also hosted the annual Kromme Descent, a swimming event that but for its 100 entry limit, would probably attract a lot more competitors and of course, their families.

And whilst still on the Kromme, we now have two more bumper weekends to look forward to with the the Eastern Cape Canoe Marathon (2nd & 3rd June) followed by the 2018 SA Canoe Marathon over the weekend 16 and 17 June.

Of course one of St Francis’ greatest attractions is surfing and there will be a junior event at Seals later in the winter but more on that closer to the time.

That we are able to attract such major events certainly is important to our economy and thus we, as a community, must do all we can to welcome our visitors and ensure them a great time in St Francis to get them to not only return to our shore  themselves but to tell their family and friends what a great place St Francis is.
