If you haven’t already done so there’s still time to enter your “wearable art” creation or to book your place on one of the exciting workshops at the third Nomvula’s Knit Fest & Competition taking place in St Francis Bay from 24 to 26 September 2015. The Fest is sponsored by SAMIL/South African Expressions and SAPROTEX with great prizes for competition entries.
The theme for this year is “Wearable Art” and knitters may submit a piece of wearable art such as a sweater, shawl, slippers, even doggie attire – anything wearable. Anyone can enter for an entry fee of R30,” says Frances Becker of Nomvula’s Knitters. “Rita Guillome, a lecturer in Knitwear and Design at NNMU in Port Elizabeth will be judging the competition.”
Workshops which will concentrate on mastering techniques and understanding form and design, will be hosted at various venues in St Francis and are available for both the avid enthusiast and beginners at R120 per session. The full schedule can be found on the Nomvula’s Knitters website at www.knitters.co.za.
