Glassy, 3-4ft offshore conditions greeted contestants on Day 3 of the 2021 Sea Harvest SA Junior Surfing Championships presented by SMTH Shapes. The classic, reeling Jeffreys Bay line-up offered the ideal canvas for excellent performances throughout the day.

Connor Slijpen (Cape Town Surfriders) dropped the highest heat score total of the day in the U16 Boys division. Between perfectly placed, arching power turns and one of the few air rotations landed in the contest so far, his surfing comfortably landed him a 16.58 heat score total (8.7 + 7.88) and a spot in the Quarterfinals.
A further standout in the U16 Boys division was Sea Harvest ambassador Surprise Maphumulo (eThekwini Surfriders), whose combination of deep bottom turns and explosive backhand cracks earned him a spot in the Quarterfinals, alongside heat winner Joel Fowles (Cape Winelands).
Rory Dace (Nelson Mandela Bay Surfriders) put on a stellar performance in the U14 Boys division, Round 3. The Cape St. Francis surfer is well versed in point break surfing and picking off a set wave early in the heat, combined massive rail carves with sharp snaps to earn a whopping 8.5 point score. Backed up with a confident 6.25 points, Dace won his heat with ease.
Day 4 of the 2021 Sea Harvest SA Junior Surfing Championships presented by SMTH Shapes will see the Quarterfinals of all divisions, as well as some Semifinals surfed.
