St Francis will hold its third “St Francis Rocks – Concert in the Park” on the 12th December from midday until 8:00 pm. This community event which attracts residents and visitors from around the Eastern Cape is a clear example of business giving back to the community. Business owners who are also residents, have invested in creating an event that offers superb entertainment but also raises funds for local charities.

Richard Mooleman of the The Village SuperSpar commented “as residents and business owners we are an integral part of the community, our children attend local schools and our families enjoy the many outstanding hospitality venues and magnificent coastline around greater St Francis, our participation in this event is a pleasure”

Meeting at St Francis Links recently, the organizing committee discussed finer details including the list of musicians who will be performing at the Concert. Included in the line-up are ever popular Absent Irish, internationally renowned guitarist and local Cape St Francis resident, Marc Maingard with his 4 piece band, Francois Hugo & Rob Thompson, the best rock duo from Port Elizabeth, Toby & Norman with their eclectic style, silky voiced Asanda singing her jazzy blues and Well Done Sun, an indie rock duo. Last but not least and back by popular demand see the return of Johnny Soxx & The Jack Rabbits, a classic rock band. The music will cover the period of the 60/70s with a number of modern popular songs in the mix.

It’s not only business that gets involved for the St Francis Ratepayers Association, recognising the benefit of pulling the community together is fully behind the event. “This concert demonstrates what we can do for ourselves in these challenging times. Working on this project or working to make St Francis a better place to live,  is a challenge to us all, getting involved is the only way to make things happen in our community” says Nigel Aitkin.

A feast of entertainment not to be missed and plans are afoot to include a food market. As with last year’s show tables and chairs will be available to book for giving preferred seating but as entrance is free those who don’t book a table can bring their own deck chairs or cushions to sit on. As John Cooper of Harcourts Oyster (St Francis Bay), a sponsor of the event commented, “just remember to bring the blankets and sun cream”.

Mark it down in your diary as it is a not to be missed event and be sure to visit the St Francis Rocks Facebook page for updates on “St Francis Rocks 3 – Concert in the Park” such as when and where you can reserve your table as well as other information on this exciting event.

Should you wish to be a part of this popular event as a sponsor, to donate prizes for the fund raising raffle or wish to get otherwise involved, then call John, Sarah or Barry to discuss your ideas.
