Keen competition was the order of the day when the St Francis Bay Bowling Club held their Men’s and Ladies’ Pairs Club Championships. The competition involved four games and was held over two days with the finals being played on Friday, 26 February. “Unfortunately rain interrupted play but in spite of this, there was a good vibe,” says Club Captain Toby Haring. Several “novices” participated in the competition with great success and this bodes well for the future of the club. Also of interest was that a brother and sister were among the winners (Peter Talbot and Margie Young). Winners of the Men’s Pairs were Neil Stewart and Peter Talbot with runners up being Toby Haring and Nigel Forbes. In the Ladies competition the winning pair was Hester Cawood and Margie Young. Runners up were Merry Tarr and Rijks Cotze.
