St Francis Animal Rescue visits St Francis College
St Francis College has long been involved in supporting charity organisations and have certainly been exceptionally supportive of St Francis Animal Rescue (SFAR) since its inception some three years ago. Started with less than a handful of volunteers St Francis Animal Rescue has grown in leaps and bounds and now has a dozen or more dedicated volunteers making a difference to the cats and dogs of Sea Vista.
But all the work that SFAR does would not be possible without the community’s generosity and St Francis College who are major contributors of food that is used to help undernourished puppies and kittens primarily but also adult dogs and cats.
Yesterday, SFAR Chairman Susan Rae Fox gave a presentation to the children of the College to show them not only what SFAR does but how much their kind donations, made up out of the children’s pocket money, goes towards helping the domestic animals of Sea Vista.
It was a privilege to have been a spectator at the event and it was even a little emotional to hear the oohs and aahs of these youngsters as Susan went through a slide presentation of some of the aspects of the work done by SFAR volunteers. The privilege was not to hear and see what SFAR does but to witness the attitude and reaction of the kids.
Well done to the staff of St Francis College, you are doing a wonderful job in teaching the kids a whole lot more than just reading and writing.
