Also being held in Kouga is a second junior event, the Billabong SA Junior Champs presented by BOS, which will take place from October 5 – 9 at the Lower Point in Jeffreys Bay. This event is always one of the most exciting events of the year for our junior surfers, and The Lower Point in JBay, always delivers excellent surf for this period. It has been consistently good over the last five years, with great waves and offshore winds the norm.
Cape Town Surfriders clinched the coveted Freedom Cup last year at the Champs by accumulating the highest points over the 5-day period in 2015, and will be defending their title this year.
“We are excited to be entering the final leg of junior surfing in the country,” said Billabong Marketing Manager Chad D’Arcy. “We have the finals of the very popular Billabong Junior Series in Seal Point, and then we go straight into the Billabong SA Junior Champs presented by BOS, the most prestigious junior event of the year. It’s great to be a junior surfer in South Africa at the moment, and Billabong is proud of our junior surfing legacy.”
