Thieves Compromise the future of the Sea Vista Sea Scouts

As with the Rotary St Francis initiative being stopped by the thieves that lurk in Sea Vista so too are the Sea Scouts compromised.

In the past few days what can only be termed non-human have certainly flexed their muscle, sadly none of their cranial muscle called BRAIN and have caused millions of Rands damage not only at the N3 Toll Plaza at Mooi River but around the country.  We in Kouga too, have had recent experience of this when the community hall in Humansdorp was torched during recent unrest. But it is not only in South Africa for Paris recently experienced similar shameless destruction and the US has regular riots where this type of behaviour seem the norm.

But closer to home! Until recently, Rotary St Francis Bay and a group of their committed members were running a recycling program that was ended when the wooden cabin from which they administered the Swop Shop was all but destroyed by the vermin that congregate in the bush behind Gods Acre. Then some weeks ago the cabin that houses the Sea Vista Sea Scouts was also vandalised and 20 chairs were stolen. This past weekend the vermin returned and completed the job by stealing the door, gate and windows from the cabin that housed the Sea Scouts.

They ave now all but totally destroyed all but one cabin on Gods Acre having previously stolen the gate off the ablution block and, what truly defines them as non-human, spread faeces on the wall f the ablutions. Humans don’t act in this way surely. Also over the weekend they also stole electrical cable from the pump station. It seems there is no end to the thieving.

But where are the police? Why are they nor raiding the informal settlements and arresting those responsible for stealing the doors and windows, steel and whatever else they can lay their hands on? And why has the municipality not fixed the fence around Gods Acre or cleared the bush behind the area where it is common knowledge that this is where the druggies and thieves congregate?

Until our police force flex their muscle and do something about the crime it is not going to stop. If the local police cannot make a difference bring in a task force for a week and clear the criminals out. It is possible it simply needs the will but it seems our local constabulary doesn’t have either the courage or willingness to act so maybe our police forum head needs to approach the matter at a higher level.
