We have the latest release of Savage Wines now available in Tops.
Village Square is the only store in the EC and Garden Route to receive an allocation of these wonderful wines.
Duncan Savage has produced one of the most superb South African whites, Cape Point Isleidh. With a decade of Isleidh experience, his skills have been honed to bring us the second release of his spectacular Savage wines.
Savage’s goal is to produce classic yet stylish wine. Spending time at Cape Point, Duncan has grown to understand maritime vineyards. This led him to source grapes for Savage from marine and high-altitude sites. Duncan is also inspired by many South African and overseas, aged reds that have passed the tests with moderate alcohol and gentle extraction.
Duncan Savage was also the Tim Atkins Winemaker of the Year in 2022.
Pesto and Mozzarella Meatball Boerie Rolls
Everyone loves a boerie roll, and everyone loves meatballs.
Makes 6
Ingredients
- 600g SPAR Select boerewors
- 2 Tbsp SPAR olive oil
- 6 SPAR Bakery hot dog rolls
- 1 jar of your favourite SPAR pasta sauce
- 1 ball of fresh mozzarella
- 1 jar basil pesto
- SPAR Freshline basil for serving
Method
- Preheat the oven to 200ºC.
- Carefully remove the boerewors from its casing and shape into meatballs, 2-3cm in diameter.
- Heat the olive oil in a large saucepan, cook the meatballs until brown, and cook to your liking.
- Add the jar of pasta sauce and cook for 5 minutes or until heated through. Adjust the seasoning.
- Toast the hotdog rolls or heat them in the oven for a few minutes.
- Slice each roll open at the top, and add a generous amount of pasta sauce and meatballs.
- Then add some mozzarella and pesto and place into the oven for 8 minutes or until the cheese melts.
- Serve immediately.
