Just when we thought it was all but forgotten there is at last positive news on the Sand River bridge
After many months of uncertainty we now have good news. The tender for the Sand River Bridge has been awarded and construction will commence in the next two weeks.
The tender has been awarded to a Cape Town based company, EMPA Structures, and it is envisaged that it will take 14 months to complete. During construction the existing causeway will still be used. It has also been indicated through our Ward Councillor, Ben Rheeder, that they intend to employ local labour, which is good news for the Sea Vista community.
A team from EMPA will be visiting St Francis Bay later this month and have agreed to meet with the St Francis Property Owners and other affected parties to discuss some of the issues that need to be addressed which include calming measures, speed signs and the possible nuisance factor if construction continues during the holiday period when considerably more traffic will be using the R330.
St Francis Property Owners
Colin, We need to remember that it is an Election Year and something needs to be done to show the Greater St Francis area that they are not forgotten. Let’s hope that it all materialises and that we soon see the promised activity.
Remember to vote for change on 3rd August so that we can assure continued improvements in the Kouga region.
Do we know the load capacity? Hilton Thorpe
Who are EMPA Structures? What is their pedigree in this type of work?
Where else could their work be seen? It is vital that the tender process was completely transparent and we need to confirm that the tender was awarded ONLY on merit!
Here here Carol extremely important!
