The U16 division is the Premier Division and is the focus of the series.

The Rip Curl GromSearch Long Beach will be followed by a series of events in Port Alfred, Dairy Beach, and Seal Point, Cape St Francis, for the finals. Surfers who wish to enter the Cape Town contest can do so HERE – remember that you must become a 2025 SSA member HERE before entering.

“We are looking forward to kicking the year off with the much anticipated Rip Curl Gromsearch #1 at Long Beach,” said Surfing South Africa General Manager Rezar De Nicker.

“It has been a few months since we wrapped up the 2024 contest calendar, and we know the groms are itching to put on a contest vest again and give it their all. Bring on 2025!”

The Rip Curl GromSearch contests are fun events that allow kids to compete against the best surfers in the same age bracket from their country. This format gives these groms insight into a life of competitive surfing. It gives them the invaluable experience of surfing and competing in different waves nationwide.
