We live in a town surrounded by wonderful professionals on many levels dealing with our physical, mental and emotional well being. Holistic health is more accepted now than in the past and people have started to understand the concept of going back to basics and focusing on natural lifestyle solutions to avoid illness and perhaps prepare better for the future.
The Studio has planned a sequence of workshops tapping into this pool of local professional knowledge.
In the first workshop being held on 1 November from 9.30am to 1.00pm, the course will focus on the physical body.
The workshops will concentrate on the basics and promise to not only be educational, but also fun and will combine essential lifestyle practices that contribute to your well being and health.
WORKSHOP ONE
On arrival you will receive a small detox green juice to get the body started after which Sacha Park will conduct an expression exercise session that, through creative movement, will guide you to follow your breath and activate your body in Yoga, a practice that brings attention to all parts of our being. The exercises are for everyone no matter your age and will help you establish increased awareness of your body and consciousness in movements, progressing towards less effort and a better function in being, doing and relating.
Balance and awareness in all exercises are central.
Following Sacha, Fouche’ Swart will discuss how to improve our physical practice, what to be mindful of and how to deal with or avoid injury. The workshop is aimed at body consciousness to understand your body, creating a deeper and more intensified body experience which can be manifested as a deep seriousness or genuine joy when exercising.
Nadine Lahana will follow Fouche’ with “we are what we eat“. Nadine is passionate about food and natural health and will cover what makes up good food combinations. She will offer samples to taste and test to illustrate that healthy food can be delicious. Food is fundamental to physical wellness and mental emotional stability and from from food all beings are born.
“By food they live and into food they return”. – Upanishad 3.2
Everything that we eat is food for our soul and Yogis believe that food is the creator of prana (life force) that sustains our bodies and brings us vitality and health. Therefore, the types of foods we choose to eat reflect the level of our conscious development
Finishing the first workshop Kirsty Dodds will take the group through a Yin Yoga session, a great way to work on your flexibility and strength.
Just about everyone can do it. and it certainly is not only for those people who can touch their toes or want to meditate. Some types of yoga are about relaxation. In others, you move more. They also usually include attention to breathing.
After the workshop you will feel less stressed and more relaxed so spoil yourself and come and have some fun. Your body deserves it!
Follow up workshops will be held to after this initial workshop and these will deal with the mental and emotional aspects
The cost of the workshop is R340.00 which includes food.
