Yesterday should have been the first day of summer, but many things happen in different time frames here in St Francis. It seems the seasons change a little bit later than other parts of the country, and there is no rush for those hot and calm days to arrive. So instead, we went down to vote in blustery and cool conditions. As per usual in St Francis Bay, the voting went smoothly, and it was great to see the turnout. While many parts of the country complained of very poor voting turnout, we seemed to be clicking over steadily, at least while I was there.

So back to the weather – summer is still coming – the rest of the week looks warm but not quite balmy. Those days will be here around the first week of December, all being well. For now, we have the usually-glorious month of November to enjoy.

Today we announce the latest issue of The West Wind magazine. It features the photographer Clive Wright, local artist Jacquie Jorgensen, an interview with our local vet Nerine Botha and the new Colony Restaurant review. There is also the results of the SA Junior Surfing Champs held at JBay recently and more. At a solid 104 pages, it is by far the biggest and arguably the best issue so far, and it can be read here – https://bit.ly/3EBQueg

We also announce the new dates for the Wine On Water Festival, which will be the last weekend, 25 – 26 February 2022.

All tickets that were not refunded are still valid. There are 310 tickets left for the event, and they will go on sale on Quicket – Wine On Water – this morning at 09h00.

The Wine On Water festival will have strict Covid regulations in place. Over the next few weeks, regular information will be disseminated from the Wine On Water organisers regarding more details about the upcoming festival. For more, here is the release – https://www.quicket.co.za/events/97240-wine-on-water-st-francis-bay/?preview=t#/

So, for now, enjoy November and the changing of the seasons. Summer is just about here.
