The Kromme Enviro Trust’s “Save Our Dunes“ Pentathlon Relay is heating up, and the competition is getting fierce! With 13 teams already signed up, it seems everyone wants a piece of the action. As well as a chance to claim the title of Dune Defenders Extraordinaire.
The Ladies Links team, proudly prowling under the name “Ingwe“ (because what better way to strike fear into your competition than with a leopard’s swagger?), are ready to pounce on victory. But they’d better watch out because the Head Cases have all mysteriously disappeared. Reportedly whisked off to a top-secret boot camp, where they are surviving on a strict diet of pure spring water and mango smoothies. It sounds like they have a genetically engineered team, a microbiologist, an international sports star, and Jason with his gammy knee. Will their commitment pay off, or will they return as pale shadows of their former selves?
Bushbuck Farm Eco Retreat has taken to social media to promote its training regime, taking full advantage of its stunning landscape. But we can’t help but wonder – will the lure of a sundowner interrupt their strict training schedule?
Wine Spritzers For Hydration
The Just Property Lifestyle team seems to have perfected a training routine of cafe lattes and just the right amount of white wine spritzers (strictly for hydration, of course). Meanwhile, the St Francis Resort team is one to watch – all that beachfront to train along is bound to give them a sunny edge.
Custom Construction? They’ve BUILT a solid team ready to go the distance. Also, Calibre is feeling SECURE in their chances of a strong performance. The St Francis Big Five are living up to their name. We’re picturing a rhino on a bike, a leopard on the run, a lion on a stroll, an elephant acing the quiz, and a buffalo bobbing in the cold water. Majestic.
And who are these mysterious contenders? Residential Locals, Creased Lightning, Not So Famous Five, Ukuthula, and Five Alive? All keeping a low profile but brimming with confidence. If anyone has any sightings or insight into their training regimes, please post pictures or updates on one of our Facebook posts!
Bragging Rights
But the real question is… where are YOU? Are you going to let these teams steal the spotlight? Are you going to let them have all the fun, all the glory, and all the bragging rights? Of course not!
There’s still time to gather your team of five brave souls for a day of fun, fitness, and a little friendly competition. You’ll face five epic challenges: a 15km bike ride, a 10km run, a 5km walk, an environmental quiz to test your green know-how, and a 15-minute cold-water bob (yes, we’re serious – it’s refreshing, we promise).
All of this will take place at the stunning Dune Ridge, where you can soak up the scenery, refuel at the food stalls, grab a drink at the bar, and enjoy live music from our DJ. The kids will be kept busy with their entertainment, so you can focus on showing the other teams what you’re made of.
Entry is R1,000 per team of 5, and tickets are available on Quicket. The event takes place on 31st May, with a fun-filled afternoon of prizes, food, kids’ activities, and music. Bring a picnic blanket, bring the family, and come cheer on the brave entrants.
Save our dunes. Join the relay. Make a difference!
