Good Conditions Forecast For The 4th Rip Curl GromSearch  – Entries Are Closed

 

With just over ten days before the start of the much-anticipated Rip Curl GromSearch Port Alfred, the early surf forecast for the contest period looks promising. 

The swell size for the event weekend is predicted to hover around the 2-meter region. The wind might shift between onshore and offshore, but there is enough potential for the competing surfers to be excited.  

The tournament will take place at East Beach in the idyllic coastal town of Port Alfred from 28-30 July 2023. The entries are closed, and the contest is full.  

Port Alfred, nestled along the stunning Eastern Cape coastline, provides the perfect backdrop for this prestigious tournament. The waves at East Beach in Port Alfred are renowned for their power and quality. 

The Rip Curl GromSearch will feature a multitude of talented junior surfers, each eager to make their mark on the waves. With divisions spanning various age groups, from U12s to U18s, the tournament provides a platform for these young athletes to showcase their abilities and passion for the sport. 

The Rip Curl GromSearch contests are all Premier SAST events, with 1,000 points going to the winners and prizemoney per all premier events. The U16 division is recognised as the main division at the GromSearch contests.  

Live Heats will cover the contest, with live scores available throughout the event.

The Rip Curl GromSearch in Port Alfred will be presented by the popular and charming Royal St Andrews Hotel. The delicious breakfasts served at the hotel provide participants and visitors with the fuel they need for a day of competition. The Royal St. Andrews Hotel offers special accommodation rates for officials, athletes and their families.

The Royal St Andrews Hotel Event Rates

R1150.00 per room per night, single accommodation and inclusive of breakfast. 

R675.00 per person sharing per night, double accommodation and inclusive of breakfast, which is R1350.00 per room per night, B&B for two persons.

Participants must call/email the reservations office and quote “Rip Curl Gromsearch”.
