Dear Mayor and DA Council
well done on your victory. No doubt the workload is huge.
I have a few queries which may seem trivial to the major tasks you are facing. Nonetheless, if there are answers/solutions available, they would be appreciated.
1)I understand that some sites have been identified for further housing for Sea Vista, but title deeds remain a problem. Can we assist in any way?
2) water restrictions have not yet been applied. While regulations take time to get in place, can’t the Council at least start by giving info on where we get our water, and how it is shared with NM Metro which already has restrictions, and the need to limit use.
3) Recycling will reduce costs. Would it help if we found out how other small towns have arranged systems?
4) Can we help with finding a new waste site?
5) can CSF and SFB help by their residents associations listing the erf numbers of gardens/plots which need clearing. It will create jobs – either through private or municipality. (I can provide the letter that Cape Town uses). The fire hazard in Santareme and St F-On-Sea is terrifying.
6) in the cities/metros pavement maintenance is the responsibility of the landowner. Can’t residents be forced to do this? It would help clear pedestrian routes.
7) can the lawn cutters/bush clearers activities be prioritized? they spend so much time on the lawn between Custom Construction and the R301.
8) can the provincial road maintenance people be klapped for not clearing fire hazard bush on the sides of the R301. Richard has been trying all year with no success.
9) there was a sad little attempt to grow a garden in the empty plot on Tarragona just east of Gods Acre. We can assist with more appropriate landscaping and choice of plants.
10) a CSF resident has a number of large heavy concrete slabs to donate which they want laid down next to the tap alongside the R301 (near the sports field). The women do washing there in the mud. Also the temporary toilets all face into the westerly wind and are not secured. These could be place on concrete slabs and secured so as not to fall over.
11) the thatch farm is full of thatch – I believe various people are harvesting it. Can the LED officer think of an income stream from this?
I regret if these are trivial issues relative to the immense tasks which need attention. But for some of these, residents can assist, and some projects can provide job opportunities.
Many thanks
