Port Alfred – the Rip Curl GromSearch is presented by Royal St Andrews Hotel and supported by Sea Harvest It has limited entries this year and is filling up fast. It is encouraging to see the younger age groups fill up quickly. This tournament will be a sold-out event this year.
Similarly, the Rip Curl Cup presented by the Royal St Andrews Hotel has limited entries this year. The entries are filling up fairly quickly. This will be a popular tournament with R22k first prize in both the Boys and Girls and a total of R79k prize money. Locals and visiting surfers will want a piece of the action.
In 2024, the Rip Curl Cup was won by Dan Emslie (EL) and Louise Lepront (Scottburgh). Their prize money went straight into their international surfing campaigns.
Entries Filling Up
Both events will have good media coverage. The Rip Curl GromSearch and the Rip Curl Cup will have live streaming. Furthermore, they will form part of the Port Alfred Easter Festival Supersport Show. This will be broadcast after the event. These contests can also be tracked via the LiveHeats app.
International GromSearch
Surfers are invited to enter as soon as convenient to get a slot in these events. The Rip Curl GromSearch has U12, U14, U16 and U18 Girls and Boys divisions. The U16 division is the prime division. The winners of this division, decided from three out of four results, will win an entry into the Rip Curl International GromSearch Final. This will be held in September.

Rip Curl Cup
The Rip Curl Cup, presented by the Royal St Andrews Hotel, has two divisions: Open Men and Open Women. With R22k as the first prize for both divisions and 2nd, 3rd and 4th prizes, some committed surfing will go down at this contest. As it did last year.
