Lots to look forward to this Easter in St Francis

The Easter crowds are gathering and St Francis is already a bustle with plenty of GP, WP and KZN registrations already filling the parking bays at shopping centres and restaurant parking lots.

A full event calendar is sure to keep both our visitors and locals with plenty to do.

Kicking off the weekend is a 5K Full Moon run /walk kicking off from Cape St Francis Beach parking lot at 6:00pm with an entry fee of donations to SANNCOB. Remember to bring your headlamps or torches. You can call Esti Stewart on 073 825 035 if you need more info on the event.

On Friday Cape St Francis Resort has something to keep the kids busy with a “Budding Junior Chefs” event at 5:30pm where the kids can come and see a live cooking demo by Exec Chef Jean-Pierre and maybe even lend a hand at preparing a dish.

Saturday kicks off at 8:00am with the popular Park Run at St Francis Links  with the Saturday Market starting at 9:00am. The market has really grown into a ‘must visit’ event in St Francis and this weekend promises to be a vibrant affair with the Sea Vista Marimba band recently returned from their trip to China providing some magic. Cape St Francis Resort is holding a Craft Workshop between 9:00am and noon where kids will get some ideas on crafts.

St Francis Combined Church is holding two services on Sunday, the first at sunrise (6:30am) on the Heritage centre lawn as the sun rises over Bruce’s Beauties. Please bring your chair, service starts at 6.30. In case of rain we will meet at St Francis United Church. The second service will take place at 9am at St Francis United Church and will be a Holy Communion.

Easter Sunday lunch is offered by several St Francis restaurants.  St Francis Links have a carvery at R185 for adults, R85 for kids under 12 and free to those under 4. Cape St Francis Resort “Music around the pool”with mucis by Wessel. A  popular lunch venue, on their menu is a platter of calamari, ribs and chips with a complimentary bottle of wine for R229.

Monday starts with a Mutt Strut in aid of St Francis Animal Rescue where you can walk or run with your mutt to work off that Easter Sunday lunch. Entry is R50 per mutt and all proceeds go to the ‘Open Your Eyes – Sterilize’ campaign that St Francis Animal Rescue oversees the sterilising of dogs and cats in Sea Vista to reduc the number of puppies and kittens being born every month. The Mutt Strut starts at 8:00am and all dogs must be on leads.

The King of the Kromme paddling race starts at 10:00 at Quaysyde on Seaglades Drive (on the canals). Paddlers have a choice of a 20k or 12k paddle.
