A man was nabbed in possession of copper cables worth over R35 000 in Jeffreys Bay on Tuesday, 16 October 2018:  Station commander of Jeffreys Bay with the assistance of a private security guard nabbed a 23-year-old in possession of copper cables valued over R35 000 on the roadside in Jeffreys Bay today.

Station commander of Jeffreys Bay SAPS, Lieutenant Colonel Makhoasa Kiviet, was driving on her way to work when she spotted a private security company vehicle stopping next to a man in Coraal Street, so she also stopped her vehicle. The man was carrying copper cables, and on questioning him, he could not give satisfactory account about the goods in his possession. A 23-year-old man was then arrested and is due to appear at the Humansdorp Magistrate’s Court today on charges of possession of suspected stolen property.

In a separate incident, also on Tuesday at around 12 midday in the informal settlement known as “No Ten Rand” in Jeffreys Bay, a Kouga municipality security patrol vehicle spotted a man carrying electrical cables but on seeing the vehicle he dropped the cables on the ground and ran. Security officers gave chase, but he was lost in between shacks.  The recovered cables are worth around R 5 000.
