Christmas treat for the Kids of Sea Vista
While many were preparing lavish feasts of turkey, gammon and roasted lamb for their sit-down celebration and others concocting marinades for their Christmas day braai, Shekinah Vena of Sea Vista was preparing a lesser feast, but a feast nonetheless, for the children of Sea Vista at her Soup Kitchen. Shekinah runs a daily soup kitchen for many of the kids of Sea Vista who without her benevolence would go hungry for much of the day. Come Christmas, Shekinah extends her goodwill and on the eve of Christmas Eve she entertained around 120 little ones to a feast of sorts prepared by Shekinah and her family.
For those who don’t know who this wonderful lady is, next time you are fill up at the Caltex station in St Francis Bay, the friendly, ever smiling manager, Andrew Vena, is Shekinah’s husband.

Christmas Treat for the Pets of Sea Vista
And lest we forget our “Furry Friends”, St Francis Today accompanied St Francis Bay vet Nerine Botha of Aloe Veterinary Clinic on a “food drop” for the dogs and cats of Sea Vista on Christmas Eve. Some 120 kilograms of dog food and 10 kilograms of cat food were loaded onto Nerine’s bakkie and as we wound our way thought the dusty streets of Sea Vista one kilogram packets were distributed to dog owners throughout the township. Much to the joy of the little kids as we travelled, handfuls of sweets were also dished out and at stages one felt rather like the Pied Piper as kids followed in procession but scampered away once they had their hands full to go and enjoy their bounty.
Below are some photos of the event.
