KOUGA – Kouga is set to ignite with sporting excitement as the highly anticipated Kouga Mayor’s Cup returns this March and April – a flagship event on Kouga Local Municipality’s sporting calendar that unites athletes and communities in a thrilling showdown of talent and teamwork.

Building on the triumph of previous years, the 2025 edition promises to be the biggest yet, featuring an impressive lineup of 19 sporting codes. From crowd-favourites like netball, rugby, touch rugby, soccer, cricket, golf, and tennis to the strategic battles of chess, darts, and bowls – there is something for everyone.

Adrenaline Rush

Running, gymnastics, basketball, volleyball, 8-ball pool, and fishing will also take centre stage, adding to the adrenaline rush.

“The Kouga Mayor’s Cup is a celebration of sporting excellence and community spirit,” said Kouga Executive Mayor, Hattingh Bornman. “This year, we are taking it to the next level, giving more athletes the opportunity to shine and more supporters the chance to cheer them on. Let us showcase the remarkable sporting talent Kouga has to offer.”

Matches will be hosted at various venues across the region, ensuring accessibility for participants and supporters alike. With past themes like “Shaping the Future” in 2022, “Breaking Barriers” in 2023 and “Growing Together” in 2024 driving inspiration and unity, the 2025 tournament is expected to continue fostering sportsmanship and camaraderie among local athletes.

Bornman extended his gratitude to all sports associations and clubs whose unwavering support has helped expand the tournament’s reach and impact.
