The National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) have called for a strike starting tomorrow  and it is possible that we could again see load shedding being re-introduced in spite of assurances that Eskom have sufficient coal to keep the lights on for 30 days. But what if the strike continues for longer than 30 days or, as so often seems to happen with Eskom, resources are mismanaged.

Over 30 000 members of the National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) in the coal sector will down tools on Sunday at 18:00, Peter Bailey, NUM’s chief negotiator for the sector, told Fin24 on Sunday.
