St Francis Links – venue for the Vodacom Origins of Golf final being played from 1st to 3rd October 2015
No sooner have the amateur golfers competing in the Calamari Classic packed away their clubs, their professional counterparts competing in on the Sunshine Circuit arrive for the Samsung sponsored, Vodacom Origins of Golf Tournament to be played over 56 holes on St Francis Links from 1st to 3rd October. The Vodacom Origins of Golf series celebrates its 10th anniversary on the Sunshine Tour with a return to St Francis Links for this year’s final.
Monday 28th and Tuesday 29th are set aside for qualifying with a Pro-Am being played on Wednesday to Friday where he amateur winners of the previous five tournaments around South Africa will join the country’s leading professionals .
Thursday sees the tournament proper tee off and could be your chance to see a future Ernie, Louis or Brandon in action.
Some of South Africa’s top young talent will be competing with Jacques Blaauw who won the first two tournament at Simola and Selborne Park, Jean Hugo with his seven-stroke win at Langebaan and George professional Heinrich Bruiners became the second maiden winner when he beat a strong field and equally challenging golf course to win at Euphoria Golf Estate.
The last time the Vodacom Origins of Golf final was played at St Francis Links, Jaco van Zyl won with a two under par score having shot a 76 in the final round. Only two other golfers finished that year with under par scores so we are in for a challenging few days of golf.
