St Francis Swimmer Leads Western Cape to Victory

St Francis Swimmer Leads Western Cape to Victory

Amica de Jager, a rising swimming talent from St Francis, made a serious splash at the 2025 Interprovincial Pool Championships — and not just in the water. She captained the Western Cape team for the first time and brought home the overall championship trophy.

The conditions? Miserable.
The results? Electric.

The air sat at 14°C, the pool at a brisk 17°C, and rain hammered down all weekend. But the Western Cape team, led by Amica, didn’t flinch. They raced hard, cheered louder, and refused to let the weather dampen their vibe.

“It was a privilege to captain my first WC team and take home the overall trophy,” Amica said. “I couldn’t be prouder of this team.”

The weekend wasn’t just about medals and podiums — although those were nice. It was about grit, laughs, team spirit, and a whole lot of wet towels. Amica noted how the group stuck together, kept energy levels up, and made the best of tough conditions — turning what could’ve been a washout into a standout memory.

Her leadership clearly landed. From pre-race huddles to poolside cheering, she helped create a tight, motivated crew that delivered when it mattered.

Amica’s win adds another chapter to Kouga’s growing list of young athletes doing big things beyond local borders.

TODAY IS PENSIONER LUNCH TUESDAY! PULL IN AT THE SUPERSPAR

In 2014, the SUPERSPAR Village Square introduced Sunday Lunches to the offerings at our hot counter and deli counter. This proved to be so popular that our Spar team has now introduced a “ Pensioner Lunch Tuesdays special to coincide with Spar’s pensioner shopping day. This too is proving to be extremely popular, and for good reason. So this means that today is Pensioner Lunch Tuesday.

Pensioner Day

“Every Tuesday is pensioner day for those over the age of 60 that have completed the necessary document and have a SPAR pensioner card,” says Mickey Lindsey, SUPERSPAR Village Square General Manager, “with this in mind, it made sense that we offered an additional benefit in the form of the lunch, when the pensioners are already in the shop.”

Special Pensioner Lunch Options

TODAY IS PENSIONER LUNCH TUESDAY

There are two options for Pensioner Lunch Tuesdays, the first is a Chicken Schnitzel and cheese sauce, served with roast potatoes, rice and roast vegetables for just R65 and the second option is a Beef Esperanza Roll and gravy, served with roast potatoes, rice and roast vegetables for R80.

The Tuesday pensioner lunch special will be available every Tuesday from 10h00 until 15h00.

This is one way to make your life a little easier and you will enjoy an “eating out quality meal” in the comfort of your home.

Crime summary for the period of January – March 2025

Looking back at our crime statistics over the past 3 months

January 10 incidents

February 11 incidents

March 11 incidents

We would once again emphasize the importance of taking the following security measures: Illuminate all entry points,

secure ladders and tools in a locked area, ensure windows and doors are locked, install security cameras, use motion

sensor lights, add beams & use window sensors. Please contact our technical team for assistance!

Notice to Homeowners and Tenants regarding UNSECURED doors, windows, gates & other entry points

January 36 vacant unsecured homes

February 41 vacant unsecured homes

March 36 vacant unsecured homes

These numbers are stabilising. We kindly urge you to remind your domestic workers and tenants to ensure that all

doors and windows are properly closed and locked when leaving your home. Neglecting this creates an opportunity

for crime and leads to an increase in false alarms.

Notice to Service Providers

Monitoring over the past 3 months has shown the following patterns in false alarms triggered by service providers:

January 33 incidents

February 32 incidents

March 39 incidents

We are now sending emails to homeowners whose service providers are not complying with our request to notify our

control room before entering the property. This results in alarms being triggered unnecessarily and dispatch teams

being deployed without cause.

Your assistance in addressing this with your service providers is greatly appreciated, ensuring a more efficient and

effective security response.

The March 2025 Crime Report shows that we need to stay vigilant and cautious.

REMEMBER WE’VE ALWAYS GOT YOUR BACK!
