Wine Of The Month and Clase Azul Tequila – Whats On At SuperSpar

La Bri Merlot 2020

La Bri (L’Abri) is French for “The Haven” – a perfect description of our boutique wine estate nestled in the amphitheatre of the Franschhoek mountains. Here you will find “signature styled wines created with passion” by our winemaker Irene de Fleuriot.

 Merlot 2020

This Merlot has a rich garnet colour. The nose is a mix of fresh juicy cherry and red plum fruit. A juicy soft, fresh yummy dark chocolate palate with integrated tannins, structured acidity and a long finish

Malolactic fermentation took place in barrel and the wine was then aged for 20 months in predominantly 300Lt French oak barrels. The new wood component is 10%

Each of our wines is linked to a specific flower – the characteristics of the wine are symbolized by the flower on the label.

Amaryllis belladonna (March Lily)

An extremely beautiful and elegant, pink flower that occurs naturally around the Cape. The cultivar Merlot is also seen as being elegant, refined and feminine. The common name belladonna refers to a woman who has both beauty and character – much like our Merlot

Alcohol 13.5 % pH 3.62

As a fully Mexican-owned and operated brand, at Clase Azul, we honour our legacy and seek to share Mexican culture’s authenticity, artistry, and heart with the world. We have been creating the finest quality spirits for more than 25 years, and our portfolio offers the highest quality tequila and Mezcal, created in our distilleries, with flawless attention to detail.

We exist to captivate the world through the magic of Mexican culture while transforming ourselves into better human beings.

Clase Azul Tequila Reposado is our signature creation, as it is the first icon of our portfolio. Its flavour and design are recognized worldwide as a statement of Mexican craftsmanship.

We maintain and are committed to the highest standards in making our tequila, beginning with the selection of agaves from our fields to the artisanal cooking and milling methods used.

Clase Azul Tequila Reposado is a symbol of Mexican tradition and culture. Made with 100% Blue Weber Agave, slow-cooked for 72 hours in traditional clay ovens, and double-distilled in copper stills, our ultra-premium reposado tequila is unique and incomparable.

Clase Azul Tequila Reposado is masterfully aged for eight months in American whiskey casks, imparting its unique hazelnut and vanilla flavors and exceptionally smooth finish.

Colour: gold colour with bright yellow highlights. Body: medium.

Aroma: agave syrup, vanilla, candied orange peel, and American oak with light notes of cinnamon and banana.

Palate: hazelnut, vanilla, cloves, cinnamon, and a subtle hint of agave syrup.

It is ideal to be enjoyed neat in a tulip-shaped spirits glass.

The magic of Clase Azul Reposado transcends beyond the outstanding quality of its tequila. Its beautiful ceramic decanter is made and painted by hand by Mexican artisans, making each one of them a unique piece.

This decanter is our most recognized icon with its distinctive “feathered” design, painted in cobalt blue.

Of All Our Lifetime Assets, Our Health Is The Greatest.

Of All Our Lifetime Assets, Our Health Is The Greatest.

This past weekend, we took our grandson on his first camping experience. I had been looking forward to these few days with great anticipation, as being outside in nature is my favourite pastime, and sharing this with him and the rest of the family promised a special occasion.

Hit By A Train

The week leading up to the weekend was mildly put, HECTIC! I had seven meetings on Monday and 3 on Tuesday before flying out to Cape Town for client meetings on Wednesday,, followed by a client memorial service, then taking the 6h30 flight back to PE and heading back to St Francis Bay for four more meetings before an evening out with friends. I picked up a hint of the flu sometime in the week, so by the time Friday morning came, I felt like I had been hit by a train!

                                  Of All Our Lifetime Assets

The result is that I was not a lot of fun over the weekend, and what was meant to be a special time became a game of survival. At 55, I have still not learned that our bodies are not machines.

Being Fit and Healthy

When we feel ill and weak, we remember what being fit and healthy feels like. Fortunately, I know this feeling of being miserable will pass, but it got me thinking that at some point in my life, it will not be as easy to recover and feel healthy again.

Medical advances mean that we all have the ability to live longer than previous generations. Still, longevity is not worth a lot if those extra years are restricted by one’s ability to enjoy life. All the money in the world cannot buy back the result of years of unhealthy lifestyles.

Sadly, this often only hits home once the “healthy” horse has bolted. Financial health is very important for a happy and fulfilled retirement, but without physical, mental, and emotional health, we cannot live our best lives.

It’s never too late to get into the shape we need to be to live the way we want but maintaining a balance from the start can simplify the journey. It is easier to avoid getting out of shape in the first place, so by organizing our daily and weekly routines, we can ensure every aspect of our life remains in harmony.
