St Francis Links Golf News: Santa Says – There was something for everyone!

St Francis Bay and Cape St Francis were heaving with holidaymakers this year. Some came early and left early; some came late and went late, and some came for the entire great ride, walk, swim, paddle, round, breakfast, lunch, dinner and braai!

Our decision to look after our members worked perfectly, with times filled by guests after the members had their chance. As a result, we played more member rounds than ever and more overall rounds than ever. This was all done without overloading the course or playing with undue delays. Having a member in most groups certainly assisted with the speed of play.

Weekend Recipe

  • 6 SPAR Select chicken
  • breast fillets, large cubes
  • (2cm x 2cm)
  • 1 cup SPAR double cream plain yoghurt
  • 2 tsp ground cumin
  • 2 tsp turmeric
  • 2 tsp ground coriander
  • 2 tsp chilli flakes
  • 2 tsp garlic paste
  • Salt and pepper
  • 2 cups self-raising flour and extra for shaping
  • 1 cup double cream yoghurt (keep extra on hand if you need more)
  • 2 Tbsp olive oil
  • Salt and pepper

  • Mix the chicken, yoghurt and spices in a large bowl. Cover and leave to marinate in the fridge for at least one hour (or overnight).
  • Thread tightly onto soaked bamboo skewers or metal skewers.
  • Cook the skewers over medium coals, under the grill on a pan.
  • To cook them in a pan, heat a splash of oil in a large enough pan to fit your skewers, scrape most of the yoghurt marinade off and cook for 5 minutes on a side or until the chicken is just cooked. Season well with salt while cooking.
  • Mix all the ingredients together until you have a stiff dough. Divide into 6-8 and roll each piece out to about 5mm thick.
  • Cook on a medium griddle pan. Turn after about 3 minutes or until it starts to colour.
