In Memoriam – Capt du Toit

It was with shock and sadness to hear of past St Francis Bay SAPS Station commander and head of detectives, Captain Johan du Toit’s sudden death from a heart attack.. Those who were victims of crime and who had contact with Johan will attest not only to his professionalism, but also his kindness and empathy in dealing with their trauma.  Feared by criminals, Captain du Toit made a significant contribution to reducing the ever spiralling incidence of crime in St Francis until he was unfortunately transferred away from our precinct. Our sincere condolences to his partner and to his family and may he Rest in Peace. You will be sorely missed Captain.

The Sanlam Cancer Challenge

The Sanlam Cancer Golf Challenge at St Francis Bay Golf Club last Saturday

After heavy winds and rain on Friday the clouds cleared and the wind dropped with Saturday dawning for a beautiful day, perfect weather for the Sanlam Cancer Challenge.

Considering all the major SA golf events held in St Francs in the past month or so, this event was rather overshadowed from a promotional point of view but certainly not in support. Jacque Botha, a three-time cancer survivor, represented CANSA at the prize-giving and informed the gathering of cancer statistics and encouraged others to follow her example and face the challenges head on.
