It would appear very little coverage is given to School News in many of the local publications so St Francis Today would like to change that for the kids are our future. If you have children or grandchildren at school, either locally or at boarding school further afield, send us news and photographs of their exploits, activities and achievements.
If you know of a child or children competing in and event, sporting or academic or other activities during the holidays, send us information and photos is possible.

HARBOUR TO HARBOUR HIKE!
by Roxanne Litherland and Beth Cooper Howell
A-hiking we will go! An overcast, dry and cool day was perfect for St Francis College’s annual Grade 1 & 2 Harbour to Harbour outing this month. Seal-spotting and breathtaking surroundings were memorable highlights of this popular and challenging adventure walk. Despite being a slightly tough hike for younger children, the pupils were nonetheless entranced by rock pools, birds and the crashing ocean – awe-inspiring sights along the meandering route, which is well sign-posted. The mini-hike began at Port St Francis Harbour, where several seals were seen swimming between fishing boats. The tired troupe ended their outing at the Heritage Centre at Granny’s Pool, where they enjoyed refreshments and a sense of achievement. “All in all a very pleasant and enjoyable morning,” said Grade 1 teacher Lynn Webb. “Although it is tiring, we all had such fun and learned much about our local history and nature.”
St Francis College Grade Four teacher Louise Ackerman celebrated her special day with cake, spoils and a Happy Birthday song from her class.
St Francis College pupils were all smiles and slicked-back hair for School Photograph Day recently.
