Dining Out in St Francis

Dining Out in St Francis offers a wide choice of restaurants and an equally wide choice of types of cuisine to suit every dining palate. For Greek fare, either Big Time Taverna & Greek Restaurant  on the St Francis Bay Canals or Dionysis in St Francis Bay Village. Italian cuisine is the specialty of the Trattoria Italian Restaurant and Take-Away with great fish dishes available at Christy’s Catch in the village, Loligos or Chokka Bloc both at the Port or Joe Fish at Cape St Francis Resort.

Mauro’s,also at the Port, has will be remembered for his pasta dishes amongst other cuisine whilst at Caffe Bijoux before opening at Port St Francis. Those looking for steakhouse fare,  Barron’s Grill is open seven days a week and serves great steaks and burgers among their range of dining choices.

Dining at the St Francis Links is a popular choice and you should watch out for their special evenings, one of which is a Wednesday curry night where the curry is as good as you will get in a curry restaurant in Durban. St Francis Links also have their popular “World Kitchen” where each Monday night cuisine from a different country is on offer.

For lighter meals and lunches the popular Rambling Rose is a great choice as is new on the scene, Pedal & Spoke Cafe in the Tennant Cetre at 167 St Francis Drive, Also in the Tennant Centre complex is the very popular St Francis Brewing Company that offers outstanding Sunday Roasts alternating between roast beef, lamb and pork each Sunday.  Also woth watching out for the the Brewery are the Beer and Food pairing evenings where diners get to not only taste a range of this craft beer producer;s beers but also do savout some exquisite cuisine prepeared by their outstanding chef, Daniel Hoffman.Olive Tree Restaurant is another eatery in the village where one can sit out under the trees on a warm, sunny day.

If spending the day in Cape St Francis admiring the wonderful work by SANCCOB rehabilitating injured coastal birds, there is a lovely little coffee shop , Trade Winds on Da Gama Road and another at Liquid Lines, the indoor 3-lane swimming pool where they serve scrumptious pies, muffins and quiche among other light meals. Another popular dining venue in Cape St Francis is at the resort’s Joe Fish Restaurant and bar.  Their menu offers a wide choice and there is a Gelato ice-cream parlour  which the kids will love.

Rock Lily, a new pub / restaurant has opened in Cape St Francis where the old STIX used to trade and promises  grat music and food.

For take away pizza, Trattoria, Pizza@167 and Picazzo Pizza all serve a good take out pizza. Take away fish & chips is  available at Christy’s Catch Take-away and at the Balobi Seafood Market & Deli at the Port where you can enjoy your freshly cooked fish & chips at the dining tables inside the market which overlook the Indian Ocean from whence comes the fish sold at the seafood market. The Seafood Market also sell fresh and frozen fish and seafood and is open Monday to Friday 10 ’til 5 and o a Saturday morning 10 ’til 2.

Dining out at St Francis Links offers several choice with the Lighthouse Restaurant, which overlooks the beautiful Jack Nicklaus designed Golf course a great choice. The St. Francis Links Lighthouse Restaurant is an elegant warm Family Restaurant, which caters for all sorts of guests, groups and special requests on top of it’s already well balanced and extravagant 3 – course menu. St Francis Brewing Company – Tennant Centre – St Francis Bay

Beautifully appointed under the shady leaves of a giant Cape Fig Tree adjacent the St Francis Bay village green, St Francis Brewing Company offers not only a fine selection of craft beers but also a delightful laid back venue to relax and enjoy good food.

Jean-Pierre (the head chef at Joe Fish) known locally as JP, has introduced his own specialty – wonderful oven baked flatbreads. Originally created for one of the many weddings Joe Fish hosts, these wonderful pizza like breads were so popular that we decided to make them for all to enjoy. Toppings available are blue cheese and caramelised onions (R42), Chicken, fig, brie and cranberry compote (R47) or Smoked salmon, cottage cheese and garlic chives (R65). These really are very very tasty and the perfect dish to share with a bottle of Joe Fish’s award winning house wine. Whether you want to eat in the restaurant, pub or by the pool (there is often free live entertainment on Sundays), Joe Fish is an excellent, child friendly environment to relax, chat and enjoy some great food and wine. Joe Fish restaurant and bar offer a wide selection of meals,from simple snacks to full 3 course dining.The restaurant is a seafood and steak specialist including our award winning calamari.
