Fauna & Flora abound in the wonderful nature reserves that surround Cape St Francis and St Francis Bay. The region boasts no fewer than seven biomes ranging from Forest, Thicket, Fynbos, Grass, Savannah, Nama Karoo and Succulent Karoo. These biomes and nature reserves fall within what is known as The Cape Floral Kingdom that stretches roughly between Cape Town and Port Elizabeth, one of only six is Floral Kingdoms in the world.

Note: Biome – a large naturally occurring community of flora and fauna occupying a major habitat, e.g. forest or tundra.

We invite readers to submit photographs of either the natural flora or fauna even if you are unsure of the plant or creatures name as somebody in our readership i bound to be able to fill in the ‘spaces’.

We ask the St Francis community to send in your photos of Fauna and Flora, taken in St Francis only, and also help us name the plants on this page. Photos and comments can be sent to news@stfrancistoday.com.
